Range of Motion for Muscle Growth
Range of motion affects where and how a muscle is loaded. For most lifters, controlled full reps - especially through the stretched position - are one of the simplest ways to get more growth from the same exercises.
Full reps first
Full range reps create a clear standard and expose the muscle to tension through more joint angles. That makes progress measurable and usually improves both growth and mobility under control.
Loaded stretch
Exercises that challenge a muscle when lengthened are especially useful: Romanian deadlifts for hamstrings, deep leg presses for quads, incline curls for biceps, and overhead triceps extensions for triceps. The stretch should be strong but controlled.
Lengthened partials
Partials in the stretched half of the movement can be useful as an advanced add-on after full reps. They are not an excuse to shorten every rep. Use them sparingly and track the method consistently.
Respect joints
More range is not automatically better if it causes sharp pain or loss of control. Modify stance, equipment or depth to find a stable range where the target muscle is loaded and joints feel good.
